Urokai was glaring at the tea maker, hard enough Tao was sure it was going to explode into flames in any second. Urokai had been a Clan Leader - maybe it would?
"Heeey," Tao said, approaching the noble, because if Urokai could set things on fire with his mind, it was better Tao distracted him before Boss' stuff went up in melty smoke.
"What?" Urokai snapped, whirling at him, still glaring.
Of course, that meant Tao could be the one that ended up as melted goop on Boss' floor, and Boss would be super displeased about that too.
"Weeell," Tao said, not feeling a sudden intense heat. Which was a good sign. "Ya look like you-" Suggesting a noble needed help was insulting, wasn't it? Especially from a human. "-were very interested in the tea maker. What's up?"
At the words 'tea maker', Urokai's glare died down and he looked triumphant, drawing himself up taller.
"So it makes tea," Urokai demanded.
"Yeeep," Tao said. "Does exactly what it's called. Pretty self-explanatory."
Urokai glowered at the tea maker, still trying to make it explode through sheer caustic will. "Frankenstein always said the way I made tea was inferior to him." Tao hid his wince. Damn. He knew Boss and Urokai didn't get on well, and he'd seen Urokai's aura flare up at Boss' jabs, so he could picture how well Urokai must have taken that. "I want to know a better way to make tea."
Tao studied Urokai for a second. "'Cause Boss said so?" That was...interesting. That an older noble would go with a human's suggestion. Maybe Urokai really had changed from before.
Urokai huffed, crossing his arms. "Of course not. I want to know a better way to make tea for Raizel-nim."
Ah. Well, there were worse reasons for wanting to learn how to make tea. "So, you want to make good tea," Tao said.
"Yes," Urokai said, frowning at him. "That's what I said."
"Right. But there's a small problem with that."
Urokai narrowed his eyes at him. "What."
"Using the tea maker isn't the best idea," Tao said, waving his hand towards the machine, and saw Urokai's face go blank. "It's kinda simple to use, but it also makes, uh, simple tea?" Not that anything Frankenstein's machines made was really simple. "It doesn't taste as good as tea made specifically by hand." He almost added 'you know', but Urokai probably wouldn't know.
"I did make the tea by hand," Urokai said, narrowing his eyes at Tao.
Oh boy. "There's a whole science behind making tea," Tao said. Which would explain why Boss was so good at it. "Like not overboiling the water, how long the leaves steep-" He tried to step closer to where the tea leaves were, figuring where Urokai's personal space bubble ended.
Urokai watched him, but didn't move, either towards or away. Better than inadvertently blocking him from the tea leaves, at least.
Tao fished the tea leaves out of the cupboard and grabbed all the other things he needed, weaving around Urokai, who seemed to be trying to memorise where he'd taken everything.
"All riiight," Tao said once he'd gotten everything, "let's do this!"

"Raizel-nim?" Urokai said as he entered Raizel-nim's room. The window here wasn't as big as the ones in Raizel-nim's mansion, and really, what was Frankenstein doing?
Raizel-nim turned to him, his gaze flicking down to the tray in Urokai's hands. "I made you tea," Urokai said, setting the tray on the table closest to a chair. He'd made the tea exactly like Tao had suggested, down to the multiple teaspoons of sugar. He had seen Raizel-nim add the white crystals to his tea before, but there were so many different kinds in Frankenstein's kitchen, Urokai hadn't been sure which ones to add.
Raizel-nim walked over, and Urokai had missed seeing his graceful, unhurried movements, so different from the humans he'd seen over the last few centuries.
Urokai tried to not stare as Raizel-nim picked the delicate teacup by the handle, the tea barely rippling from the movement.
Raizel-nim sipped from the teacup, his face as impassive as usu-
Urokai sucked in a small breath. Raizel-nim smiled? It was a small upturning of the corners of his lips, but it more expression than Urokai had seen him make, especially after drinking tea he had made.
"The tea is nice," Raizel-nim said, before taking another sip. "Thank you."
"Ah, I'm glad," Urokai said, dipping his head.
Raizel-nim had never responded when he made tea before, so this was definitely better!
