Tao heard his bedroom door open but ignored it, focusing on the code in front of him. Something wasn't working and he was sure it was one line.
He found the sneaky semi-colon and deleted it with a satisfying click of a key. He leaned back with a grin, resting his hands behind his head. There! It should work now and...hm. Hadn't he heard something earlier?
He twisted around to look over his shoulder. A grey eye surrounded by fur made eye contact with him through the crack in the door and then glanced away.
That time of the month again, huh? His alarm hadn't gone off...? Oh, sunset was earlier now - that was why.
"You can come in, Em," he called out, spinning his chair around.
M-21 looked in and then away again.
M-21 could hear Tao, had opened the door himself and seemed like he wasn't in pain.
"You just here to hang out?"
A quick nod.
"Heh, all right." That was fine.
* * *
Argh! What was the problem now? He'd checked everything but he still couldn't get the code to work how he wanted it to!
Maybe if he just - Tao yelped as a wet something pressed into his neck. It turned into a laugh as the snout started sniffing around his ear. "E-Em! I'm - bffhaha!"
He saved out of habit, in case his flailing hit other keys.
And then M-21's arms were around him, lifting him clear from his chair.
"Em-!"
It was only for a couple of seconds before he was deposited onto his bed, M-21 settling over him.
"I thought you wanted to hang out at a distance," Tao grumbled, brushing fur away from his mouth. M-21 was over his legs, and there was no way he'd be able to get out without M-21 just moving and sitting on him again. Tao stared longingly at his computer monitors.
M-21 rumbled in response, laying his head next to Tao's.
Blocking his view.
"I get it, I get it," Tao said with a sigh, scratching the base of M-21's ears. "Time for a break?"
M-21 snuggling in closer, tail curling to the other side of Tao's head.
Time for a break, then. Maybe by the time Tao woke up, he'd solve the problem easier.
