Min-gyu wasn't sleeping well. Tao knew that because Min-gyu was always tired, but it wasn't just that.
Sometimes during the night, Tao would get a snack (just a small one! Frankenstein or Muzaka wouldn't know!) and he'd hear noises coming from Min-gyu's room. It was Min-gyu's room though, so Tao wouldn't enter, but... it kept happening.
Like tonight.
Tao glanced up the hallway and back to Min-gyu's room. It should be okay to just-
He heard Min-gyu whimper through the door, and Tao bounced from foot to foot. Min-gyu was having a nightmare! Or fighting off a demon! Or both!
He should get someone.
But who?
Tao glanced in the direction of Frankenstein and Muzaka's bedroom, biting the inside of his cheek. They seemed nice and really really helpful but. That was when they were happy. Tao wasn't sure how they would be if he woke them up in the middle of the night, if then they would be angry.
That only really left one other person, who Tao would trust with his life.
It didn't take long to get back to get back to his bedroom, and he dived into bed.
All Takeo did was roll over.
Tao pouted, putting hands on Takeo and shaking him a bit. "Takeo!" he whispered.
"What...?"
Hah! He knew Takeo was faking it, the faker! "It's Min-gyu! I think he's fighting the monster under the bed!"
"There's no monster under the bed, Tao," Takeo mumbled, not even turning to look at him.
"Not under our bed," Tao said, "but what about Min-gyu's?"
Takeo didn't answer straight away and Tao gave him a second before shaking him again, in case Takeo had fallen asleep. "Hey-!" Takeo said, flailing a hand at him. "Frankenstein or Muzaka would have checked under his bad as well."
That was true but Tao still wailed, "Tak-e-o, we should still check on him!"
Takeo grumbled and tried to bury further under the covers. "He'll be fine."
"He's not though - I can hear him through the door and I think he's crying."
Takeo stopped moving. "You heard him?"
Tao nodded. "Uh-huh."
Takeo didn't say anything, but just as Tao was about to shake him again, Takeo shuffled to get out of bed. "We'll go see him then."
"Thank you, Takeo!" Tao flung himself at Takeo's back, and Takeo carried him there as Tao hugged him while he walked to Min-gyu's room.
Tao strained to hear anything coming from Min-gyu's as they approached. He couldn't, but that could be because his and Takeo's breathing were covering over the sound.
Or maybe they were too late and the monster had already eaten him...
Takeo eased the door open and a low moan greeted them as soon as he did.
The monster was in the room!
"Min-gyu?" Takeo said, shifting how he carried Tao, one arm trying to reach up.
Oh. That's what he wanted. Tao reached for the light switch instead, squeezing his eyes shut when they came on.
The moan continued, Min-gyu in the middle of his bed, his covers more off than on. He didn't even wake up from the light?
"I think he's having a bad dream," Takeo said, loosening his hold on Tao so he could slide off.
A dream monster then.
"We should wake him up."
They snuck closer, Tao checking for all the shadows for anything not supposed to be there. It looked fine, but hmmm.
"Min-gyu," Takeo said again, climbing into bed and bringing the cover with him.
Min-gyu's bed seemed huge compared to his and Takeo's, or was that because it was just Min-gyu in it?
Takeo reached over, touching Min-gyu's shoulder.
As soon as he did, Min-gyu sighed as he curled up towards him, not frowning as badly.
Oh! Tao glanced at Takeo. Takeo did have a magic touch in his hands, so he must have fixed Min-gyu's bad sleep.
"Do you want to sleep here tonight?" Takeo said, and Tao nodded, already crawling over to Min-gyu's other side.
Takeo crawled off the bed, and when he did that, Min-gyu shuffled closer to Tao, still sleeping.
He must have been lonely without any brothers, so Tao pulled the covers up, hugging Min-gyu. He missed when Takeo turned the lights off, but that was fine.
He heard Takeo climb into bed and he drifted off to sleep. After making sure there was no other monsters in the room, of course.
* * *
The sun was only starting to light the sky when Muzaka woke up, Frankenstein still sleeping soundly, and Muzaka slipped out of bed.
Min-gyu had had trouble sleeping over the last few days and Muzaka and Frankenstein were beginning to suspect it was because Tao and Takeo had come into the house. But how could they settle and reassure Min-gyu...
Min-gyu's door was ajar when Muzaka got there, which wasn't like him. When Muzaka poked his head in, his eyebrows rose, seeing three bodies in Min-gyu's bed illuminated from the window. it was hard to tell Min-gyu was there at a glance though, since Tao was laying on top of him and Takeo was hiding the rest of him from view. Some of Min-gyu's silver hair was visible under the pile and that was about it.
None of them stirred, sleeping peacefully, which made Muzaka smile. Huh. Min-gyu needed a puppy pile to sleep better. He'd have to tell Frankenstein that.
But that was for later and in the meantime, he'd start making breakfast.
