Frankenstein glanced at the ceiling as he cooked breakfast, towards Min-gyu's bedroom. Usually by now he'd hear Min-gyu moving around, getting ready for school, but upstairs was silent. Had he slept in?

Frankenstein switched off the stove, moving pans and went upstairs. Still no sign of movement, and when he eased Min-gyu's bedroom door open, it was still dark, only the nightlight on.

Laboured wheezing filled the room, and even from the door, he could see Min-gyu's flushed face peeking over the covers.

Min-gyu's eyes fluttered open. "Nn...? Oh, F-Frank-? I'm up-" Min-gyu started to sit up and Frankenstein strode into the room.

"Min-gyu, it's okay, he said, sitting next to him, helping him lay down again.

"But... Ssschool..." Min-gyu's face was beaded with sweat and when Frankenstein placed a hand to Min-gyu's forehead, it was hot.

"No school for you today," Frankenstein said, tucking Min-gyu in. "You're sick."

"Mm not?" Min-gyu licked dry lips, still trying to get out of bed. "I'm okay, you..." A wheeze. "You don't need..."

"Rest, little one," Frankenstein murmured, running his fingers through Min-gyu's hair. It was damp with sweat. "You need it."

"But... You need...work."

That was what he was concerned with? "I can work from home; it's nothing to worry about."

Min-gyu blinked slowly at him, and Frankenstein wasn't sure if Min-gyu was taking in his words.

"It's fine," Frankenstein said instead. "You're more important."

A blank stare.

"I'll be right back, all right?"

That seemed to energise Min-gyu again, and he fought against the blanket once more. "N-no! I can be-! I-I'll be - Please don't go!"

"I won't be gone for long, Min-gyu," Frankenstein promised.

Even that amount of exertion seemed to have exhausted Min-gyu, and he sank back into his pillow. "...But..."

Before Min-gyu could try again, Frankenstein left. He got some antipyretics and set breakfast on a tray, bringing them upstairs.

Min-gyu stirred when he entered the room. "You... You came back..."

"I said I would." Frankenstein placed the tray on Min-gyu's bedside table and sat bedside Min-gyu again. "Now, do you want medicine or food first?"

Min-gyu didn't answer, but the way his shoulders tensed was a familiar sign that Min-gyu did want something but was unsure of Frankenstein or Muzaka's reaction.

"Or do you want something else?"

A jerky nod, Min-gyu grimacing afterwards.

Frankenstein waited for Min-gyu to speak, rather than asking again.

"Uhm... Can I..." With each word, Min-gyu's words became softer, his breathing quickening. "...Have a hug?" The final word was so quiet Frankenstein wasn't sure he would have heard it if his hearing wasn't enhanced.

But yes, it wasn't just about being physically well to feel better.

"Of course," Frankenstein said, smiling.

Min-gyu's eyes went wide. "Really?"

Frankenstein scooped Min-gyu up from under the armpits, easing him onto his lap. Min-gyu clung onto Frankenstein's shirt as Frankenstein wrapped an arm around him. When Min-gyu's breathing hitched, Frankenstein couldn't tell if Min-gyu was about to start coughing or crying.

Min-gyu did neither, holding onto Frankenstein so hard he trembled.

Eventually, Min-gyu relaxed, his breathing easing.

"Do you want to eat something now?"

Min-gyu nodded, not looking up.

"The medicine might not taste very nice and it's hard to swallow, but it will help you feel better. Drinking lots can help it go down."

"Okay..."

Min-gyu managed to swallow the pill Frankenstein had halved, drinking most of the water too. Min-gyu grimaced afterwards, sticking his tongue out.

"Did you swallow it?"

"Yeah..."

Frankenstein was about to ask about breakfast, but Min-gyu's head was dipping, his eyes fluttering.

Frankenstein adjusted his hold so Min-gyu was leaning on him. The movement didn't jolt Min-gyu awake, who drifted off to sleep completely, though he was still clutching at Frankenstein's shirt.

Hm.

He eased himself back so he was resting his back on Min-gyu's headboard. Min-gyu was already looking far more relaxed. Frankenstein brushed some of Min-gyu's hair away from his face, Min-gyu sleeping soundly.

Frankenstein fished his phone from his pocket. He could do quite a lot of work from there and he didn't have any meetings that required being face to face. And even then, the others could deal with things while he made sure Min-gyu was all right.
