Frankenstein blearily opened his eyes as Muzaka tossed around in bed yet again. It certainly felt as if Muzaka moved every minute, but it was hard to keep track. For someone who liked napping during the day, Muzaka seemed to have much more energy during sleep, or maybe that was why he needed the naps?
It could be something Frankenstein could try figuring out.
Once he had a proper night's sleep.

"Hey, you okay?"
Frankenstein exhaled, wrapping his hands around his coffee, the warmth seeping into his hands. Muzaka didn't seem that affected by his sleep, but then, why would he if he always slept like that?
"I'm still getting used to our sleeping arrangements," he said. While Muzaka had napped around his lab for months, he'd never stayed after dark until recently, Muzaka disappearing for the night and reappearing in the morning.
Muzaka grinned, one side of his mouth curling up to reveal a fang. "Heh, yeah, it's different from what I'm used ta."
It was a comfort that Muzaka similarly wasn't used to sharing his space.

Muzaka seemed more restless than the previous night, spinning around as nothing felt right. He wasn't in pain (though Frankenstein wasn't sure he felt pain the same way humans did) since Muzaka attempted to settle first, before moving again soon after.
It was more hectic than usual it seemed. A nightmare?
Frankenstein reached over, Muzaka stilling when he touched his shoulder. When he was sure Muzaka wouldn't lash out on instinct, he shook Muzaka's shoulder gently. "Muzaka?"
"Nn?" Muzaka turned towards him, nuzzling Frankenstein's hand. He exhaled, the crease between his brow relaxing.
Well. Frankenstein found himself smiling, waiting to see if Muzaka would stay settled. His presence wasn't only disturbing to Muzaka in sleep.

Frankenstein looked over at Muzaka's yawn the next morning, Muzaka shaking his head as soon as he was done.
"You aren't sleeping well either?" Frankenstein said, sipping his coffee. He'd managed to sleep after, and he'd assumed Muzaka had slept well since he hadn't woken up again after.
But that could have been he was too exhausted himself to be disturbed by Muzaka's movement.
"Yeah, I'm not used to sleeping like..." Muzaka swept his hand out in an arc. "That."
"Oh? How do you normally sleep?"
Because he was watching, he saw Muzaka jerk back, his mouth snapping shut with a sharp click, his eyes darting around as if he'd said something he didn't intend to. Interesting.
It meant they could hopefully get the source of this faster.
"Muzaka?" he said, sipping his coffee again. Then again, he wasn't thinking as optimally as he would like either, but if they could sort this out, then they could both have a restful night's sleep.
Muzaka opened his mouth a number of times, before grimacing with a sigh. "Yer not gonna let go of this, are ya?"
"I'm glad to see you know me so well already," Frankenstein said, hiding his smile behind his cup. It was true that he dove into uncovering the secrets of the world with a stubborn single-mindedness to learn, but as for personal secrets, he normally wasn't quite so interested in them.
Muzaka still didn't say anything for a few seconds, his brow furrowed. Then he squared his shoulders, looking at Frankenstein. "I'm used to sleeping as a werewolf."
That made sense, seeing as Muzaka was a werewolf and all. "And that would entail...?"
Muzaka stared at him, and had he missed something obvious? While Frankenstein had interacted with werewolves for a number of months now, he was still learning about their culture and he hadn't had an interest in their sleeping habits. "Like...transformed?"
"Oh! Oh, of course," Frankenstein said with a soft chuckle. Yes, that was far more understandable.
Muzaka was still watching him. "That's...it?"
"Hm? Were you expecting something else? Though..." Frankenstein covered his mouth as he yawned. "I'm sleep deprived myself, so my reactions are rather lacking at the moment."
Muzaka laughed, the sound rattling in Frankenstein's ears, before he was lifted up and Frankenstein tightened his hold on his cup, making sure his coffee didn't spill as Muzaka span him around. "Shoulda realised you wouldn't be scared," Muzaka said, his face buried in Frankenstein's shoulder.
"Why would I be scared?" He'd seen Muzaka's transformation before.
"Most humans would be."
Frankenstein snorted. "I have it on reasonable authority that I'm 'not like most humans'." Either through ostracism for his work from humans, or the werewolves' appraisal of him.
"Heh, yeah, I forget sometimes, but then you do somethin' to remind me again."
"Hmm, then I'd best think of something else to surprise you with. Wouldn't want to become too predictable now, do we?"
This time Muzaka's laugh was softer, as he tightened his hold on Frankenstein.
* * *
"Oi." Muzaka's voice by Frankenstein's ear would have startled him before, but he must have recognised Muzaka's approaching footsteps without realising.
"Hm?" Though he already knew the answer, pushing himself away from his desk.
"Time fer bed already," Muzaka said, placing a soft kiss just under Frankenstein's ear.
"Hmm, I suppose," Frankenstein said, standing up. "And you?" he said, glancing at Muzaka who was still untransformed. "Or do you prefer waiting until you're just about to fall asleep before transforming?"
Muzaka perked up. "You remember that?" He carried on before Frankenstein could say anything. "Right, right, you don't forget anything. Depends on how I feel," he said, shrugging.
"And right now you feel...?" Frankenstein said as they exited the lab.
Muzaka leaned in, kissing Frankenstein's cheek, before he stretched, striping out of his clothes.
This wasn't the usual transformation Frankenstein had seen, specifically honed for fighting and keeping to two feet.
The pop of joints was loud, grinding as bones shifted and changed shape. Muzaka fell forward onto paw-like hands, and kept growing.
Muzaka glanced at him once he was done, face longer with a snout and covered in fur, but his eyes were still the same, his ears pricked towards Frankenstein.
"Feel better?" Frankenstein asked, looking him over. Yes, he could understand why Muzaka wasn't comfortable at night, seeing him like this. He wasn't fully a wolf, more top heavy with longer forearms so he towered over Frankenstein, but there was difference enough to be felt.
Muzaka huffed, his mouth hanging open, and his tail thumping against the wall. Muzaka nudged him towards the bedroom, and while Frankenstein wasn't sure they would be able to fit onto the bed as easily as before, he was sure they would be able to figure something out.
