It was raining after school, hard enough to bounce back up again when it hit the ground and splash everywhere. Min-gyu sighed, adjusting his bag as he saw his classmates run towards their parents, hiding under umbrellas.

He didn't have an umbrella. Of course he didn't. He never did.

He peeked at the sky one more time. It was grey, the kind that promised it would rain forever.

But it wasn't the dark kind that said it would be a thunderstorm. Not any time soon.

He should be able to make it back to Frankenstein and Muzaka's house before it got any worse.

He ducked his head and dashed for the playground exit, ignoring all the calls his classmates and their parents made.

His jacket was warm, but the rain started soaking through it quickly, his face already feeling colder. He had to move faster. He was going to be dripping wet by the time he got to the house. Frankenstein and Muzaka wouldn't be happy with that.

The rain stopped.

Except it didn't. Min-gyu could see the rain falling in front of him, but it wasn't hitting him. He could hear it rattling off something above him.

He looked up as he slowed down.

A pink umbrella was over him. Protecting him from the rain.

"Hey, kiddo. I was a little surprised when you ran past me! Didn't you hear me call after you?"

Min-gyu stared at Muzaka, not understanding. "Why are you here?" fell out of his mouth before he realised what he was saying. Muzaka must have just been passing by. That was it. There was no reason for him to be there.

"I came ta pick ya up, of course."

W-what? But why? "Aren't you busy?"

"Not enough that I don't have time ta pick you pick," Muzaka said, adjusting his hold on the umbrella. "I brought a raincoat and boots to keep you dry too."

Min-gyu's attention was drawn towards the plastic bag in Muzaka's other hand. For him?

"Do you want to wear them?"

He continued to stare at the bag, and then peeked out at the rain again. It was heavier now, almost hard to see through.

He nodded.

He sucked in a breath as he was scooped up and he found himself perched on Muzaka's arm, Muzaka holding him in place by the shoulder. "All right, I'll just get the..." Muzaka tucked the umbrella at his shoulder as he dug into the bag, pulling a bright yellow raincoat out first.

"I can - I can change on the ground?" Why was he on Muzaka's arm?

"But yer feet'll get wet if you try to change there!" Muzaka said, holding the coat up so Min-gyu could slide an arm through the sleeve.

Oh.

Min-gyu didn't say anything as he put the rest of his coat on, his fingers slipping a little on the zip. He held on to what he could, not trusting Muzaka's hand on his shoulder but...

Muzaka was warm. He was wearing less layers than Min-gyu, not even a jacket, but...he was warm. Like he always was.

It didn't take long for Muzaka to remove Min-gyu's shoes and put on the rain boots, and Min-gyu was placed back on the ground.

"Now then," Muzaka said, grinning at him. "You ready to go home?"

Min-gyu looked out at the rain, feeling his new coat and his boots pressing around his feet. He wasn't wet. He wasn't cold.

Muzaka was with him.

He nodded. "Yeah."

The rain didn't seem so bad like this.
