Tao stretched as gently as he could, still feeling the occasional dull throb from his ribs. He'd tweaked the task set so if someone else was curious, they'd see there was now more tasks involving the dropship, and were hopefully boring enough they didn't feel the need to actually go and do them unless they were assigned the task. Which they wouldn't be. Tao had made sure of it.
Typing still sucked one-handed, but he was getting used to it now. He wasn't at the same speed as when he had both hands - he was sure he was still faster than what everyone else could do here though.
That done, Tao eyed the entrance of his room. Sure, he could see who entered the room behind him, except then he was just trapped with someone, with no way out. Em had proved that. So he wanted to add something, just in case.
Not that it seemed like it was needed now, but it would keep Tao's hands and mind busy rather than his brain locking into overdrive again.

Tao sat down at his monitors again, fingers gliding over where he'd kept the trip button under the table. There, that should do. It wouldn't be enough to kill anyone, just enough for him to get away. It had been a pain (physically and metaphorically) to do, but it was done now.
Now, he could start on the trackers, though...
Tao tapped his desk. It would be safer if he had a dud he could poke at, just in case.
Bodies were either spaced or thrown into the lava pit, but maybe Frankenstein had been able to retrieve one or two of them.
Tao carefully stretched his arm above his head. All right, he'd spent a long time in Security already. Time for a walk.

The air was stale pretty much anywhere on the base (and really, Tao should visit O2 more often, because that had the freshest air before it was filtered to the rest of the base), especially if Tao didn't bother to remove his helmet as he went between buildings, but the change of scenery was still nice.
Frankenstein's medbay smelled different from the rest of the base, and maybe that was because of the samples he brought in and the medicines he had.
Tao had gotten some light therapy, where Frankenstein shone a red light over his injuries. His arm did feel better, but that was all he'd gotten out of his trip: Frankenstein hadn't kept any trackers. So he would just have to make do with what he had. Which was currently inside his own chest. Frankenstein even helpfully shown him where it was.
The problem was going to be making sure he didn't set off any alarms or failsafes. The best case scenario was if he 'died' for a few seconds before he hooked it back online; the worst was if the tracker exploded upon death.
Which shouldn't happen! It would have been obvious if that was the case with all the previous deaths. Though Tao hadn't seen them all, and he'd heard some people had just been ripped in half, so maaaybe it had happened, and it just hadn't be that obvious?
...Right. He would just have to be careful. His reactions were slower with the cast, but he should still be fine.
Just. Had to be really careful with what he poked around in.
Still. It was nice to get his brain active and thinking, rather than just passively watching screens for hours on end. Now he just had to...
Tao heard the scrape of the vent opening, seeing something flow out of the vent in front of him. It was like a mass of silver fur and paws. It stayed like that for a second until it cleared the vent completely, its shape resolving into Em, who was grumbling under his breath.
So that was what Em's imposter form looked like.
Tao must have made a sound, or moved, because Em whipped his head to face him.
As soon as Em saw him, Em paled, his eyes widening.
Before Tao could greet him or even say anything, Em had dashed down the corridor away from Tao.
Huh. That definitely wasn't the reaction of an imposter who wanted to kill him.
Come to think of it, did Em even know he knew what he was? He'd only talked to Frankenstein this entire time.
"Hey, Em!" Tao called out, chasing after him. There was a door ahead but Tao kept running. They always opened up in-
He bounced off it with a yelp and fell back on his ass.
Tao stared up at the door in a daze, before he got back to his feet. That hadn't happened before. Something new about the base that was falling apart?
There was a lit up panel Tao hadn't noticed before next to the door, and when he pried it open, there were two rows of four switches there, some of them on. "Okay," Tao muttered. "Red means bad, right?"
It only took a few seconds to flip all the necessary switches, but by the time the doors opened again, Em wasn't in sight.
Damn.
