There was someone standing on the rooftops that had a peacock tail. Muzaka frowned, tilting his head as he tried to figure out why that was off to him.

If someone wanted to make something to match their wings, or even just to wear them, then that was their decision. In fact, considering the strength they'd need to have to carry the train for any amount of ti...

It wasn't a peacock tail. That was what was wrong with it - it didn't have the distinctive fan shape, the silhouette more boxy like-

Wings. It was a pair of wings that had had peacock eyes on them.

Weird. Now that Muzaka was paying attention, the colours were off too - darker, with more purples and blacks, so the eyes stood out even more. Painted maybe? It wasn't any kind of wing plumage Muzaka had ever heard of or seen before, and he'd seen a lot over the centuries.

Muzaka jumped off the building and dived towards the person. He could find out more if he talked to the person.

He was still a few buildings away when the person's wings flared, the eyes shifting and more opening. Moving across the wings as if they were ripples in water rather than part of feathers.

He sucked in a breath, feeling the killing intent radiating from the wings, not the person they were attached to.

Muzaka swerved, circling the person as he tried to get a better idea of what was going on.

The eyes tracked his movement, the person looking at him over his shoulder. Shoulder length blond hair, blue eyes, huh. No, the wings were definitely separate but joined to the man, their different auras tangible but also bleeding into each other.

A kind of parasite? Muzaka hadn't heard of one that could change a person's wings though, or one that could have its own aura that could rival a person's.

Which meant...

"Are you going to continue circling my head, or am I going to have to go up there to join you?" the man called out from him, his tone amused.

So whatever it was didn't affect the man's ability to fly.

Muzaka found himself smiling, drifting closer with a tilt of his wings. "Which would ya prefer?"

The man narrowed his eyes at him, his eyes assessing Muzaka's wings before replying with a sharp smirk. He jumped up, chasing after Muzaka with quick wingbeats as Muzaka caught an updraft and soared further away.

The man's wings were built for speed like Muzaka's, not the shorter peacock wingspan Muzaka had expected to see.

They wheeled around each other, Muzaka keeping just out of reach. The man was fast, sometimes only one twitch of a muscle keeping Muzaka away.

"So are you going to tell me what you found so intriguing about me?" the man said, his forehead slightly creased in concentration.

Muzaka grinned at him; it had been a while since he'd met someone who pushed him to fly harder. "Your wings."

The man halted, hovering in the air, a surprised look on his face. "And what's so interesting about them?"

Huh? "The eyes." That were currently focused on him. When the man's eyes flapped, it did look like he had a peacock's tail for a brief second. The killing intent radiating from the wings had settled as they flew, the eyes more half-lidded.

"The ey..." The man trailed off, staring at him. "You can see them?"

"Other people can't?" Muzaka blurted out. How? The eyes were right there.

...Hovering over the wings like they weren't part of them. Right.

"Hmm," the man said, pulling Muzaka's attention back to him. "As much fun as I've had flying with you, I would rather not be fighting to be heard over the wind while we talk."

"Then...over coffee?" Muzaka said hopefully.

The man smiled. "Yes, I think we should."

Muzaka beamed at him, doing a small loop in the air as they flew back to ground level.
